Distribution Warehouse Roof Solar Installation
Location: Smith Bros (Caer Conan) Wholesale's Distribution Warehouse
Installing solar PV on commercial roofs can make sound economic sense for businesses; it offsets the need to purchase all of your electricity from the grid and puts previously unused rooftop space to good use.
Most importantly however, it reduces carbon emissions, which was the specific goal of this project. Smith Bros aims to reduce the total amount of greenhouse gases produced and overall carbon footprint.

A recent study carried out by the Forestry Commission at Kielder Forest has calculated that the Forest’s 150 million trees lock up 82,000 tonnes of carbon* annually.
This means that as a rough estimate each tree at Kielder is locking up 0.546 kg of carbon per year
*One tonne of carbon is equivalent to 3.7 tonnes of carbon dioxide.
Using these figures, Smith Bros approximately offset their carbon the same amount as
138,624
trees
